Leigh Brackett was a prolific author, anthology editor and screenwriter.  Her first published science fiction story was “Martian Quest” (1940). Her hard-boiled mystery novels NO GOOD FROM A CORPSE, AN EYE FOR AN EYE and THE TIGER AMONG US established her as a pioneering mystery writer.  Her fantasy and science fiction work (e.g. THE LONG TOMORROW, THE BIG JUMP and her Eric John Skraith novels) established her as an important figure in those genres as well.
